Below are programs which allow underrepresented students visit college campuses.
Amherst College: Access to Amherst (A2A) State: Massachusetts Program Dates: TBA Application Period: TBA Description: Students selected to visit Amherst for a Diversity Open House (DIVOH) weekend will receive 100% of round-trip transportation costs (airline, bus, or train) for DIVOH attendance and will be hosted on campus by current students. Typically, seventy-five percent of the students who attend one of our DIVOH programs choose to apply to Amherst, although they are under no obligation to do so. A fee waiver of the $65 application fee is provided to all students invited to attend a DIVOH weekend.
Babson College State: Massachusetts Program Dates: October Application Available: TBA Description: Participation is limited to students living within the United States. Travel scholarships may be available for students who need assistance getting to campus. Additional details will be provided to students accepted to the program.
Barnard College: Barnard Bound State: New York Program Dates: October Application Deadline: TBA Description: Barnard Bound provides a taste of both Barnard College and New York City for promising young women who will be high school seniors in the fall and self-identify as students of color (which we define as individuals from Black/African-American, Hispanic/Latina, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Asian, bi- and multi-racial backgrounds), especially those students who couldn’t otherwise afford to visit. Due to limited funding, Barnard Bound is only open to students currently residing within the continental U.S.
Bates College State: Maine Program Dates: April Application Deadline: TBA Description: Prologue to Bates is an open house program geared towards serving first-generation-to-college students and/or students coming from diverse backgrounds. Prologue to Bates is open to all rising high school seniors, however, the committee prioritizes the selection of students from historically underrepresented backgrounds such as African-American, Asian-American, Hispanic and Latino, Alaskan and Native American and first-generation-to-college students.
Bentley University State: Massachusetts Program Dates: October Application Deadline: TBA Description: This overnight program is designed for high school students who are interested in exploring Bentley’s diverse campus life. Spend the night learning how you can join other students of color, first-generation students, and their allies as an active member of our inclusive community.
Bowdoin College: Explore Bowdoin State: Maine Program Dates: September and October Application Deadline: September Description: The Explore Bowdoin program offers the opportunity to spend three days on Bowdoin’s campus to high-achieving high school seniors from diverse backgrounds who might otherwise be unable to visit. Because we understand that traveling may pose a significant financial burden for many families the College covers the entire cost of the trip including all transportation (by plane, Amtrak, or bus) and meals.
Bryant University Open House State: Rhode Island Program Dates: Rolling Application Deadline: Rolling Description: Open house visits are available in October and November. Hear directly from students, meet faculty and staff, and learn about Bryant's student centered mission.
Bucknell University State: Pennsylvania Program Dates: Virtual program in October & Regional Programs in October and November Application Deadline: End of September Description: Journey to Bucknell is an overnight program designed to expose high-achieving, traditionally underrepresented (African American, Asian American, biracial/multiracial, Latino/a, Native American, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander) high school seniors to Bucknell University. Students must have a 3.3 GPA and taken the ACT, SAT, or PSAT.
Carnegie Mellon University State: Pennsylvania Program Dates: Online program TBA Application Available: TBA Description: Celebration of Diversity Weekends are an opportunity to experience the diverse community, academic, extracurricular and cultural facets of both the campus and Pittsburgh. On Saturday evening, you’ll be matched with a current student who will be your Overnight Ambassador during your stay.
Colby College State: Maine Program Dates: TBA Application Deadline: TBA Description: We invite you to apply for the opportunity to attend classes with our world-class professors, learn about our talented and diverse community of scholars, stay overnight in a dorm, and experience life as a Colby student. We are committed to ensuring students from all backgrounds have access to a Colby education and to providing the support and resources that help you succeed. Students attending U.S. high schools are eligible to apply. Travel grants are available for participants with demonstrated financial need.
Colgate University: Colgate in Focus State: New York Program Dates: Early October Application Deadline: Mid August Description: This application-based program invites a talented group of high school seniors to campus. Applicants will have overcome significant challenges in their journey to pursue post-secondary education to our campus to gain insight into the Colgate experience first-hand.
College of the Atlantic State: Maine Program Dates: Mid October Application Deadline: July Description: The Fall Fly-In is a competitive program for prospective COA Presidential Scholars. If we select you for the program, we will cover the cost of your trip to the college and provide meals and housing while you’re here!
College of the Holy CrossPerspectives Overnight Program State: Massachusetts Program Dates: November Application Deadline: End of September Description: Perspectives is an overnight, weekend program for seniors from diverse backgrounds. This program is designed for culturally aware students who are intellectually curious and are potentially interested in exploring higher education at a Jesuit, liberal arts college. The Perspectives program provides a chance to explore the diverse environment Holy Cross has to offer, spend two nights in a residence hall with a current student, and explore the academic and social environment on campus.
Connecticut College: Explore Weekend State: Connecticut Program Dates: Early November Application Deadline: September Description: From its inception, Connecticut College has championed the idea of serving and supporting underrepresented populations. Over time, that commitment has grown and evolved with our institution. Promoting diversity and inclusion continues to be a major component of the fabric of our selective, liberal arts, coeducational and residential institution. Transportation assistance is available for students who qualify.
Dartmouth College, Dartmouth Bound: Indigenous Fly-In Program State: New Hampshire Program Dates: October Application Deadline: July Description: Dartmouth's Indigenous Fly-In (IFI) program is designed to give participants an in-person experience of daily college life at Dartmouth. Participants will learn about Dartmouth's Indigenous community and its resources, as well as college admissions and financial aid processes. IFI is open to rising seniors living and attending a high school in the U.S., who identify as Indigenous* themselves, or have demonstrated an interest in the Indigenous community and/or Dartmouth's Native American and Indigenous Studies Department.
Dartmouth College, Dartmouth Bound: Summer Program State: New Hampshire Program Dates: July Application Deadline: May Description: The Dartmouth Bound: Summer Program takes place in July and is designed to provide high school seniors from historically underrepresented backgrounds and communities with an opportunity to preview college by immersion in student life at Dartmouth. Participants will live in a Dartmouth residence hall and will attend workshops on the admissions and financial aid processes. The program encompasses the academic dimensions of Dartmouth by providing access to classes and interaction with our faculty.
Franklin & Marshall College State: Pennsylvania Program Dates: October Application Deadline: August Description: Franklin & Marshall College invites high school students from diverse backgrounds with a strong history of leadership to campus to explore their leadership abilities as they transition to a college environment. The Collegiate Leadership Summit is a two-day program that provides selected delegates an opportunity to develop their leadership skills. The cost of travel and attendance is covered by the College.
The George Washington University State: Washington, DC Program Dates: TBA Application Deadline: TBA Description: GW will offer a limited number of travel grants to and from D.C. for the Your GW event for well-qualified students. In addition to completing the items above, students must also send a letter of recommendation from a high school guidance counselor or teacher toadmevents@gwu.edu to be considered for travel assistance. The letter should include information on your extracurricular activities and your financial need.
Gordon College State: Massachusetts Program Dates: April Application Deadline: TBA Description: Fly to campus with other admitted students and interested seniors and transfers from around the country (and the globe) for our All-Access Gordon event, and we’ll take care of the rest!
Hamilton College: Diversity Overnight Program State: New York Program Dates: October Application Period: Summer Description: The Hamilton College Diversity Overnight Program is an opportunity for diverse seniors to visit campus and experience life on the Hill. We offer this visit program to introduce Hamilton’s campus, students, faculty, classes, and residence halls to students who represent the many dimensions of diversity. While all are welcome to apply, our selection process will prioritize the applications of students from ethnically diverse backgrounds as well as first-generation college students and those from families with limited financial resources.
Haverford College:Have-A-Look State: Pennsylvania Program Dates: October Application Deadline: End of August Description: Have-A-Look, a program designed for students from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in higher education, offers the opportunity to become acquainted with the academic and social opportunities at Haverford. The program gives students the opportunity to interact with professors, visit classes, learn about diversity and inclusion on campus, hear current Haverfordians’ perspectives, and immerse themselves in the Haverford experience.
Lehigh University: Diversity Achievers Program (DAP) State: Pennsylvania Program Dates: October Application Deadline: End of September Description: Lehigh University believes in creating and maintaining a vibrant campus community. Remaining steadfast in our commitment to promote and sustain a diverse student body, DAP provides select high school seniors interested in a culturally based program the opportunity to immerse themselves in life at Lehigh for two days and one night.
Middlebury College: Discover Middlebury State: Vermont Program Dates: October Application Deadline: September Description: The visit is open to seniors from traditionally under-represented groups: African American, Hispanic/Latino, Asian American, and American Indian students; students (regardless of ethnicity) with demonstrated financial hardship; and students who are first in their families to pursue a four-year college education. Unfortunately, international students or those living outside of the country cannot participate in this program. However, students in the U.S. with DACA status are welcome to apply.
MIT: Weekend Immersion in Science and Engineering (WISE) State: Massachusetts Program Dates: September Application Period: Application opens May Description: We are pleased to invite rising Black, Latinx, and Native U.S. high school seniors to apply to the MIT Weekend Immersion in Science and Engineering (WISE). WISE sessions take place twice during the fall semester. Over the course of WISE, you will have the chance to attend classes, tour the campus, meet professors, visit labs, stay with a current MIT student, and attend workshops to give you a glimpse of what life at MIT is really like. The program is free and includes transportation for admitted students.
Pomona College: Perspectives on Pomona State: California Program Dates: October Application Deadline: TBA Description: POP! will be held in the fall, giving students from diverse backgrounds who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education (including rural and first-generation, as well as those from underrepresented ethnic and racial groups) the opportunity to experience being on campus, meeting students and faculty, and exploring academic and social opportunities at Pomona. Participating students receive on-campus housing, meals and shuttle transportation between local airports and Pomona College. Travel grants are available to cover airfare expenses.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute: Science, Technology, & Arts @ Rensselaer State: New York Program Dates: Expected at the end of October Application Deadline: September Description: Academically talented, underrepresented minorities and young women are invited to apply for the STAR Program. The STAR Program allows high school seniors to experience life as a Rensselaer student. You will stay on campus, explore academics, tour campus, visit our laboratories, and connect with current Rensselaer students and faculty.
Swarthmore College: Discover Swarthmore State: Pennsylvania Program Dates: September and October Application Deadline: July Description: Discover Swarthmore, held in the fall, is our all-expenses-paid overnight program for high-achieving high school seniors. Admissions pays for all transportation, meals, and on-campus housing expenses for students selected to attend one of these programs. Attendees experience Swarthmore firsthand as they attend classes, stay with current students in our residence halls, eat in the dining hall, and go to campus events. Prospective students hear from faculty, staff, alumni, and current students through a series of panel discussions and informal conversations.
Trinity College: Bantam Bound State: Connecticut Program Dates: November Application Deadline: September Description: Trinity College is sponsoring PREVIEW WEEKEND, an overnight program designed to give seniors in high school an opportunity to explore both the academic and social aspects of the Trinity community. Focusing on the first-generation, international, and student of color experience, visiting students will observe classes, meet with faculty and students, attend campus events, and interview with a member of the Admissions staff.
Tufts University: Voices of Tufts Diversity Experiences State: Massachusetts Program Dates: October Application Deadline: TBA Description: The Voices of Tufts Diversity Experiences, sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, are overnight programs designed to expose high school seniors to the vast diversity that exists in our community. One program is for students interested in the School of Engineering and the other is for students interested in the School of Arts & Sciences. Participants have the opportunity to experience academic and social life by staying in a residential dorm with an undergraduate student, attending lectures from professors, eating in the dining halls, and watching a student-led showcase by several on-campus performance groups. Travel assistance is available for students for whom the trip would present a financial hardship.
Union College: Getting to Know Union Weekend State: New York Program Dates: TBA Application Deadline: TBA Description: Union College will be hosting an overnight college preview program for high-achieving students from diverse backgrounds. This program is designed to allow students to learn more about our academic offerings; give them an authentic view of what life can be like at Union; and provide opportunities to engage with current students, faculty and administrators. Because we understand that traveling may pose a significant financial burden for many families, the College will cover the entire cost of the trip, including transportation and meals.
University of Richmond: Multicultural Overnight Visitation Experience State: Virginia Program Dates: October Application Period: September Description: Access Richmond is an overnight visit program for prospective students of color, first-generation college students, and students passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion. Students and guests attend a two-day program learning firsthand about life and experiences of students at Richmond from an academic, student support, and social perspective.
University of Rochester: Multicultural Visitation Program State: New York Program Dates: November Application Period: October Description: University of Rochester’s Multicultural Visitation Program (MVP) brings together high school seniors from diverse backgrounds and allows them to experience Rochester on a more personal level.
Utica College Fly-In Program State: New York Program Dates: Rolling Application Period: Rolling Description: For students who live more than 5 hours driving distance from Utica, they will reimburse half of your ticket price up to $150. If you choose to enroll at Utica, they will reimburse the other half, up to $300 total.
Washington and Lee University: Diversity & Inclusion Visit Experience State: Virginia Program Dates: September and October Application Deadlines: August/September Description: The Diversity and Inclusion Visit Experience (DIVE) is a selective, two-day all-expense paid program for rising high school seniors with a focus on personal engagement with faculty members and current students, life in a residential campus community (including staying in first-year residence halls), and a primer on W&L’s admission and financial aid process.
Wellesley College: Discover Wellesley Travel Grant State: Massachusetts Program Dates: October Application Deadlines: Available in May Description: Wellesley will provide travel grants to cover the cost of transportation, meals, and housing for a limited group of rising high school senior girls. Please note that we’re unable to award travel grants for visits outside of these dates.
Wesleyan University: Fall Open House Transportation Assistance Program State: Connecticut Program Dates: TBA Application Deadlines: TBA Description: The Wesleyan University Office of Admission funds the Transportation Assistance Program (TAP), which provides an all-expenses-paid visit to campus (including transportation, accommodations and meals) for a select number of high school seniors interested in participating in one of our annual Open House Programs.
Williams College: Windows on Williams State: Massachusetts Program Dates: September and October Application Deadlines: TBA Description: Windows on Williams (WOW) gives high school seniors the opportunity to spend three all-expenses-paid days at Williams College. Participants stay in dorms with current students, attend classes, meet with professors, and learn about our admission process and our extraordinary financial aid.
Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Discover: The Diversity Experience State: Massachusetts Program Dates: TBA Application Period: TBA Description: The Diversity Experience @ WPI is a special overnight program for African American, Latino and Native American students, as well as students interested in diversity, to spend the night in a residence hall and experience the vast diversity WPI has on campus. Students will have the opportunity to eat in the dining hall, connect with current students, participate in social activities, explore the vast academic options, and much more.
